The Harmony Group made a conscious decision in 2004 to diversify their operations. There are various projects under review and as a consequence of this , we are delighted to announce the introduction of our new skin care division.

This new division will focus on the rapidly emerging alternative skin-care market in the GCC with a new range of quality products not currently available in GCC. Initially,our newly introduced range of products will follow the principles of Ayurveda and will be available both to the consumer and specialized trade markets.

Modern Medical techniques specialize in particular areas of the body and its functions but the approach of Ayurveda considers the “whole”.

Ayurveda is an ancient holistic science from India which aims at a total harmony of mind, life, body and spirit in balance with Nature's rhythms. The science of Ayurveda states that there are 3 Doshas or basic body types. These are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each has certain qualities that can be unbalanced by worry, fear, certain foods, environmental pollution, tiredness etc.

Vata (body-air) an excess of Vata makes skin rough, dry, cold, black and brown and prone to wrinkle, cracks and moles.
Pitta (body-Heat) an excess of Pitta makes skin oily, warm, fair, red and yellowish, prone to pimples and freckles.
Kasha (body-water) an excess of Kapha makes skin not so oily, cool, pale and white, prone of pigmentation.

The art of Ayurveda is the in depth study of the properties of plant materials and experimenting with combinations, proportions and dosages to obtain the most beneficial blending to heal the body.

Much that the ancient Ayurvedic healers and practitioners knew has been lost over time but researchers today have been able to build on the remaining information to detail over 2000 useful plant extracts. In ancient times healers used base products that many modern users may find distasteful (e.g. clarified butter) and so today’s researchers have to find natural vegetable bases that will not suppress or act negatively with the chosen extracts. Finally the products must have a reasonable shelf life but the preservatives used must not compromise the product so they must be non-toxic and from natural sources where possible.
